The D’TORCH orchestra is a big community full of talented students. We strive to work together to produce great music. Most importantly, we enjoy the process of practicing together and performing as a whole.

Our orchestra consists of a variety of instruments: the strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), the woodwinds and brasses (flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone), as well as the percussions (piano, marimba, timpani, drum-set). The D’TORCH Orchestra have practiced the following pieces for School Year 2020-21: Phantom of the Opera, Aladdin, Bohemian Rhapsody, Cinema Paradiso, Perhaps Love, and Game of Thrones.

The D’TORCH orchestra provides students the opportunity to further develop their musical talents and skills. It also gives the students a chance to shine as a group and as an individual by providing opportunities to foster teamwork, collaboration, and communication. When playing in an orchestra, a musician focuses not solely on their own playing, rather, they need to listen to the other musicians around them to achieve harmony and balance.

Being able to perform well in an orchestra requires not only teamwork, but also individual skills. If you want to be a good attribute to an orchestra, responsibility is one of the most important criteria. Aside from attending orchestra practices each week, students will also need to practice on their own. The main goal of orchestra practices is to achieve harmony within the team and to rehearse for future performances.

The D’TORCH orchestra welcomes any passionate musicians to join and play with all of us. Students will be able to practice and improve their teamwork and individual skills. Being able to play in the orchestra is a great experience for aspiring musicians.
