Dia de Los Santos served as the inspiration and the theme for our spectacular Masquerade Night of 2022. Dia de Los Santos is a tradition held by the Catholic Church every year on November 1st. The day is devoted to the Catholic Church’s saints, which are all those who have gained heavenly elevation and have peacefully gone to heaven. Ever since 2019, we have not had a masquerade night. This year, all the parents, students, people, sponsors, and businesses were open to coming to a place where we would all be welcomed.

Book Fair and Booths

This year, we included a book fair in addition to masquerade night. People can escape into a world where there is no reality with the assistance of books, which can also provide them tranquility. Readers of all ages who cherish the gift of reading were welcome at the book fair. The people who were enjoying masquerade night could also stayed in the quiet place where all the young readers were.

We also saw plenty of students from all grades and classes in the booths. The classes that made booths were a great representation of teamwork, organization, and patience. The students were also creative enough to come up with their own themes and products. Jennifer Wang (President) and Isabella Hsieh (Vice President) announced the winners of the best-class booths that they saw. The winner ended up being G10 St. Albert, which sold quesadillas and orange juice.

This year’s event was attended by many sponsors and visitors. After two years of waiting, we are delighted that companies old and new have come to Dominican International School to participate in this special evening. Due to COVID, outside companies in Taiwan have been restricted from accessing DIS. But luckily, they were here this year.

The sponsors and other booths that were part of this year’s masquerade night were: FET, Tai Audio, Nine Tai Studio, Bar Domani, Costco Wholesale, Hannover Equestrian Club, Triple Cafe, Joy Joseph Space Association, Latin America, Sports Academy, Tigerair Taiwan, Trusted Quality Healthcare, ALCONS, Nutty Scientists, XL Academy, Mayur Indian Kitchen, iSKI, Korean Community, Kidchen Club, Mike Tennis, DIS VIP & Swimming Team, Student Council, Afficient, All Good Gene’s, Chi Li Hsiang, Wrong Gallery, 台北汎德, 信義房屋, and 張振榕診所.

Events

During Masquerade Night, the seniors in grade 12 also created a haunted house. Without a doubt, there was a sizable crowd of people of all ages waiting to enter the terrifying area. It was the perfect opportunity to draw everyone in and give them a proper scare so they could enjoy the rest of the day!

Lastly, we can not forget about the incredibly talented students that took part in the talent show. There was singing, dancing, performing, playing musical instruments, 相聲 Xiang Sheng (cross talk), and even more. No matter what everybody performed on that night, we were all still amazed by the courage and talent that they had.

Dia de Los santos was an amazing theme for this special night. Masquerade night was a great success, and everyone is sure that we all enjoyed the activities, events, book fair, and booths. We thank Jennifer Wang, STUCO, and the VIP parents who made this night possible. We are thrilled that businesses came to the school and that booths from different grades participated. Now we’ll have to wait until next year for our next great night. It may seem like a long time, but while we await the next Masquerade night, we can relax and enjoy the memories we have made from the 2022 Masquerade Night.
