Valentine’s Day is an annual celebration of romantic love, friendship, and adoration. Every year on February 14th, individuals send messages of love and devotion to their spouses, family, and friends. The name of our current day of love might possibly be traced back to the ancient Romans. On February 14 of various years in the 3rd century A.D., Emperor Claudius II killed two individuals, both called Valentine (Seipel, 2011). The Catholic Church commemorated their martyrdom by celebrating St. Valentine’s Day. Here are some drool-worthy meals for this love-filled day:

Steak with Creamy Mushrooms and Spinach

The taste of the steak is greatly enhanced by the addition of shiitake mushrooms. They have a smokey flavor that comes through when they’re cooked. They lend a smokiness to the steak, making it taste more earthy and char-grilled. Enjoy this heavenly meal with your loved one!

Classic French Onion Soup

This is really tasty! Not too salty, as is the case with certain French onion soups. The port wine offers a depth of flavor that isn’t present in other recipes. The crostinis rise to the top when the soup is ladled, so there’s no need to add them last. Make a huge batch of this hearty soup and pair it with your most expensive bottle of red wine.

Citrus-Roasted Salmon

This exquisite roasted salmon is a superbly stunning main dish—especially for the holidays, when citrus season is in full swing—despite being simple to create and only requiring five ingredients. The salmon is topped with orange and lime rounds, which not only add taste to the oily fish but also make for a lovely presentation. This special occasion-worthy dish seems as vivid as it does luxurious, thanks to a simple butter-enriched citrus sauce enhanced with fresh dill. The salmon is kept wet by covering it loosely with foil.

Pork Chops with Bourbon-Molasses Glaze

I know the name sounds fancy, and it is, but this isn’t hard to make at all. These pork chops are made extra exceptional with a sweet and salty molasses and bourbon glaze. Enjoy these delicate, flavorful pork chops with creamy mashed potatoes and roasted green beans.

Chicken and Arugula Cacio e Pepe

With this cheesy spaghetti, you can’t go wrong. It’s the pasta water that makes it so tasty.

Lobster-Noodle Casserole

This exquisite dish was inspired by one of my childhood favorite: tuna noodles. It can be prepared in separate casseroles or served buffet-style in a single huge dish.

Ricotta Mashed Potatoes

By serving mashed potatoes in ramekins, you may turn them into an exquisite side dish. This old-time classic gets a boost of smoothness and a slight cheesy flavor from the ricotta cheese. Ricotta mashed potatoes with a fluffy texture! Rich in butter and cream, this dish is improved by a small amount of ricotta cheese, which provides smoothness and a slightly sour flavor.
