There are many movies in this world that are fantastic. Some have great stories, plots, others have moving character development. So here are some movies I recommend! There will be no spoilers in this review so you don’t have to worry about this review spoiling any movies you haven’t watched yet.

Disclaimer: This is a personal opinion and I’m not a movie expert, so if you disagree and have another opinion, leave a comment below and let’s discuss! 🙂

Number 10: Backdraft

My 10th favorite movie is Backdraft. This is one of the classics directed by Ron Howard in 1991. This movie is very well made considering they didn’t have good CGI or the technology for that back in the 90s. If you like people overcoming their fears then this is a movie for you!

Number 9: Les Misérables

This movie talks about the tragic life of people during the French revolution, how they lived, and also their suffering. This movie is more like a musical to me.  All the dialogues in this movie are sung as songs. This is also the movie that includes the famous, “Do You Hear the People Sing?”. This movie has great music and songs so I definitely recommend this movie if you love a good musical!

Number 8: 1917

Coming up at number 8 is 1917. Unlike a typical war movie, this film has a great story and shows how people lived in World War One. This movie talks about a soldier forced to accomplish a task in time before something terrible happens. The cinematography makes this a very unique movie compared to other warm films.

Number 7: Green Mile

Green Mile is a movie produced in 1999 that talks about cops who manage prisoners on death row. Each prisoner has already repented for their sins and built a relationship with the cops. The movie takes a sad and dark turn after a certain prisoner and cop is introduced.

Number 6: Armageddon

Do you know where the original astronaut moon walk introduction came from? The astronaut introduction came from Armageddon, a movie about an asteroid that is about to crash into Earth. How will the heroes defend Earth? Armageddon is a very intense movie, although the length of the movie is three hours long, this movie will definitely be worth your time!

Number 5: Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し)

Spirited Away is no doubt the best animated movie out there. This movie has a fantastic story and character development. Did you know this film is also the most iconic work by Hayao Miyazaki? The music is beautifully composed by Joe Hisaishi, one of the best composers in Japan.

Number 4: Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park is the most iconic dinosaur movie! With renowned director, Steven Spielberg and music composed by John Williams, it’s the perfect combination for a thrilling visual experience! Jurassic Park shocked everyone with its dinosaur in the cinema. Did you know the T-rex in the film was the first animatronics ever made, and also the largest model ever?! Just this fact alone takes this film among the classics in Hollywood. There is no one in the world that doesn’t know Jurassic Park!

Number 3: Jaws

Ever wonder what happens if a shark attacks a beach? This movie slowly builds up its tension while the protagonists hunt for the shark. You don’t know when the shark will come or where it will attack you, but once you hear the music, stay out of the water! After watching the movie, most people never viewed the sea the same way as they did before.

Number 2: Schindler’s List

Definitely, one of the saddest movies out there. This movie talks about the life of Jews during the Holocaust and the man who saved 1200 Jews. This movie took ages to make because of how dark and sad this movie was, even for Steven Spielburg who is a Jew himself. The music is also composed by John Williams, and the film score for this movie is one of his greatest works. Although the movie is in black and white, it was purposeful. “He who saves one life saves the world entire.”

Number 1: Forrest Gump

“Stupid is as stupid does”. This movie is about a man who is born retarded but does great things in the world by accident. The movie’s sadness and happiness is immeasurable. It’s definitely one of my favorite movies. This movie is funny and sad in many ways. Forrest Gump may not be as smart as others, but he is the most determined man.

That wraps up my top 10 movie recommendations! What did you think? Do you agree or disagree? Let’s discuss in the comments section!
